5.4.13 – As they say, everyday in the backcountry is a good day. RMNP received a lot of new snow. On the approach to the Loche Vale area I measured nearly five feet! The couloirs up high, and Andrews Glacier are filled in nicely for some corn snow. We dropped in at the Andrews Glacier Apron. The snow down lower has some crust and needs to go through a few freeze – thaw cycles. Lots of runnels coming down in areas. The dust layer is prevalent just below the surface and on steeper aspects it is not bonding at that layer – we will see how it does in the next few days. There should be some great spring riding in the weeks ahead. Corn harvest is at hand, go get it!
A few random pics from the day.
